For gas-to-gas heat exchange, regarding hot gas, it is only possible to determine whether it’s feasible or not once the physical properties of the gas being heated are provided in detail; your way of asking shows a lack of sincerity
What the original poster mentioned first should be the air preheater; choosing one with high efficiency will do. The second is the conventional heat exchange between gases and liquids; if a smaller amount of heat exchange is desired, a smaller heat exchange area will suffice. For small volumes, some efficient heat exchangers can be used, such as internal finned heat exchangers, which provide a strong enhancement to heat transfer on the gas side.
