The high-pressure gas used in the vacuum furnace is basically sourced from the low-pressure gas produced internally for regular furnaces; fuel oil is sufficient when combined with this high-pressure gas
When comparing the use of natural gas versus fuel oil in these devices: 1. Production operations are simpler: with fuel oil, it is necessary to control and adjust the ratio between oil and steam, which is quite difficult; whereas with natural gas, it is much easier – one only needs to control the appropriate amount of gas based on the production requirements. 2. More stable production: Natural gas is usually supplied by external providers, so its supply is stable and there are few fluctuations during use. In contrast, for processes that use oil, steam, or fuel oil, the pressure is generally provided internally, which leads to frequent fluctuations. Additionally, it is difficult to adjust the oil supply, resulting in less stable production. 3. It has a minor impact on heating furnaces. Oil-fired heating furnaces generate a large amount of smoke and dust, which causes ash to accumulate in the upper furnace tubes and thus affects their heat exchange efficiency. Additionally, oil firing does not ensure uniform combustion in each burner, leading to uneven heating in some of the furnace tubes. 4. The production cost is low; the calorific value of fuel oil is around 10,000 Kcal/kg, while that of natural gas is around 9,038 Kcal/kg. The price of oil is approximately 3,300 yuan per ton, and that of gas is around 3 yuan per m3. Currently, most refineries are equipped with devices for dry gas recovery; only those companies that use only atmospheric and vacuum distillation units, or only some of their refining facilities, rely on such methods.
Our plant usually uses purified dry gas for combustion; when the pressure of this dry gas is unstable, we switch to using natural gas. However, the cost of using natural gas is very high. When our plant’s flares stop operating, that non-condensable gas is stored in gas tanks and used as fuel gas for various processes, and the cost associated with this is quite low
