Titanium is used in areas exposed to wet chlorine gas; nickel is used for the cathode of ion-exchange membrane cells; and titanium is also used in chlorine water heat exchangers. In short, use titanium wherever there is wet chlorine gas!
In general, titanium-based equipment and pipelines are used in any area where wet chlorine is present, such as the anodes of ion membrane electrolyzers, chlorine water heat exchangers, and the equipment and pipelines used for dechlorinating brackish water, among others； In areas where there are high temperatures and high concentrations of caustic soda, equipment and pipes made of nickel or materials with a high nickel content should be used; for example, the cathodes in ion-exchange membrane cells are made of nickel, as are the first and second effect evaporators used in the concentration of caustic soda via ion-exchange membranes. :lol
Currently, titanium-nickel equipment is mostly used in chlor-alkali plants; other industries don’t use it much, as it’s too expensive to afford.:'(
Titanium is also used in hydrometallurgy for gold refining, in devices such as sump tanks, fans, submersible pumps, and filtration tanks.
The titanium fans, anode solution tank, brackish water tank, and saltwater sump are made of titanium, while the cathode solution low-level tank and high-level tank are made of nickel.
