Air flotation is an effective method for treating oil refining wastewater. The oil removal efficiency of air flotation mainly depends on the diameter of the oil particles of organic matter in the wastewater, the diameter of the dispersed bubbles, and the chemical properties of the oil particle surface. The function of air flotation agent is to change the chemical properties of the surface of oil particles.
The air flotation method uses fine compressed air to dissolve in water and gradually float the tiny suspended solids in the water to the surface of the water along with the air bubbles. The air flotation method can add chemical reagents or not. The so-called flotation agent is a chemical substance added when using the air flotation method. Generally, PAM and PAC are mostly used in conventional water treatment. Of course, there are also some flocculants determined through experiments for special wastewater. However, PAM is generally added as a coagulant to easily float the formed floc on the surface.
