It’s my first time taking the environmental assessment exam; I’ve never prepared an environmental assessment report before, but I passed it on my first attempt this year. The scores are: Laws and Regulations 166, Guidelines and Standards 113, Technical Methods 112, Cases 83. I started preparing for the exam last summer; I found the examination materials from that year and downloaded some practice questions from the Environmental Assessment Enthusiasts website. There were three textbooks: those on laws and regulations, guidelines and standards, and technical methods (I didn’t have any case study materials at that time). It took me over a month, 50 days, to read these textbooks through five times. While reading, I tried to figure out where questions might be asked, how they could be formulated, especially multiple-choice questions. Finish all three exam subjects in just one month. From after the summer vacation until the registration period, I didn’t have time to read books; it wasn’t until the end of March that I got the case analysis textbook. I read this textbook twice: the first time, I studied it carefully, answered the questions provided after each case, paid attention to comparing the similarities and differences between various cases, and remembered the key points and special features of each type of case. The second time, I focused on the aspects that I thought were important to note. After May Day, I worked on the exercises in three sets of books: those published by the Chemical Industry Press and China Construction Press, as well as those from the Environment Press (edited by Xu Song, He Xinchun, etc.). I’ve finished all the exercises in them. I went through the textbook a week before the exam. In this way, it took me three months to pass the environmental impact assessment exam. I think as long as you want to take the exam, as long as you have the time and are willing to study hard*, it will be difficult for you not to pass. Wish everyone success in the 2009 exams.
