Structural importance analyzes the significance of basic events based on the structure of the accident tree diagram, and it cannot fully reflect the hazard importance of each basic event. Probability importance reflects the sensitivity of how changes in the probabilities of various basic events affect the probability of the top event occurring. Critical importance is a criterion for evaluating the importance of various basic events from both probabilistic and structural perspectives. It can be expressed using equation (4): Ic(i) = Ig(i) · qi / Q(T). However, I’m not clear on how critical importance is measured from a structural perspective; it seems that the formula only takes into account probabilistic factors.
I suspect that the formula Ic (i) = Ig (i) · qi / Q(T) was written incorrectly by the author.
