Dear seniors: I am a recent graduate, and my graduation project is titled “Control of Ethylene Distillation Columns for MTO Olefin Separation.” This topic originated from the Shenhua Baotou project. I don’t know where to start working on it; I need to prepare a project proposal now, but there is very little background information available. This project uses ABB LUMMUS, which is similar to the ethylene separation technology used in petrochemical plants!

Please refer to the control scheme for the ethylene column in ethylene plants; preferably, it should be a high-pressure operating ethylene column. The purpose of the ethylene distillation column is to separate ethylene from ethane. The objectives of the MTO and the ethylene columns in ethylene plants are the same, so the operating parameters and control schemes of previous ethylene plant columns can be used as a reference.
