Our environmental protection in the city includes cleaners and waste disposal sites； As for the rural areas, they have become waste disposal sites for cities; with plastic bags and foam among other wastes, who will pay attention to this? Let’s discuss it – what other issues exist that society has overlooked, and what should be done about them?
My hometown is in a rural area in Jiangsu. In the past, trash was simply thrown into some small ditch, but now people have to pay around five yuan per month; each household puts the trash in bags and leaves it at the entrance of their home, where specialized personnel collect it, possibly coming by every few days.
Rural areas with good economic conditions have seen significant development in terms of environmental awareness as well as environmental protection measures, making great progress. But in economically underdeveloped areas, environmental protection is in a complete mess; people have no idea what environmental protection means or whether something constitutes pollution or not. As long as it can generate profits, that’s enough, with the goal and primary concern being to solve the problem of food supply. In fact, the main issues that need to be addressed in cities at present are water pollution, air pollution, and solid waste pollution; however, the level of green coverage is still far from sufficient. Furthermore, environmental protection in the old urban areas of cities is still inadequate; sewage is not directed into main pipelines and is discharged everywhere, and waste is not properly collected. This is the case in cities, let alone in rural areas. The task is arduous and the road is long, but don’t lose heart.
It mainly comes down to whether the systems and management are in place. We have built many hardware facilities, but the management aspect is still only superficial.

There are several aluminum factories in our village now, and the waste gases and wastewater produced by them are not effectively controlled or treated. These factories are even praised on television for their economic benefits, but they cause severe pollution of the food supply and water sources. I’m very worried about the living conditions of the people in my hometown
Now, many people have a higher awareness of environmental protection and are concerned about white pollution. There are quite a few environmentalists around me who have collected a lot of used batteries and plastic waste, but they don’t know to whom to give them.
Environmental protection requires the effort of everyone; it is a task with a long road ahead. Let’s make our cities, scenic areas, rural areas, roads, and all the places that are part of our homes cleaner and more harmonious as soon as possible.
Putting aside the issue of how to handle waste in rural areas, when urban waste is transported to the suburbs, few methods can ensure that it does not affect the surrounding environment. As for the site selection criteria for landfills, are they being implemented or not? I’m not sure if there is any in Fuyang; or perhaps it’s located near Fuyang, next to the railway tracks, in an area that resembles a landfill. The trash there gets carried around by the wind, and it’s not very far from rural areas where people live. I also saw a pond nearby. In the development of a city, there is surely a place that gets damaged.
Environmental issues noticed by those who are not majoring in environmental science generally fall under the jurisdiction of the sanitation department, with an emphasis on environmental protection in daily life. What we often fail to notice is the pollution from chemical plants, especially in industrial parks; a slight carelessness can lead to the contamination of an entire river or result in a sky obscured by thick smoke. Such incidents occur from time to time in different parts of the country. Generally speaking, rural areas only accept urban domestic waste. The water in rural areas is mainly polluted by their own pesticides. With the progress of society, these problems should be gradually resolved; it’s just a matter of time, and that time may be quite long.
