Are the holes in a standard saddle meant for insulation or for grounding?
This has been said many times: the two holes on the side reinforcement plate are used for grounding. But these days, there is usually a separate ground plane, so these two holes become unnecessary.
The one on the side is for grounding, while the ones on the pad are exhaust vents
The openings on the side are sometimes used as lifting holes
3rd and 5th floors are correct; exhaust holes on the shims
Electrostatically grounded. Sometimes it isn’t necessary; the ground wire is directly welded to the base plate. Sometimes, when the conditions do not permit it, this hole needs to be connected to ground using bolts.
