For the design of liquid sulfur tanks, previous designs included 5 layers: acid- and heat-resistant bricks, water glass-based acid-resistant mortar, foam glass panels, polyurethane coating, and C25 impermeable concrete. Nowadays, steel plates are also used as an inner lining, but this approach presents many problems. Let’s discuss what method should be adopted.
The degassing side of our flow cell used to have problems frequently as well, mainly due to the peeling off of the outermost acid-resistant bricks. The reason is that the liquid level fluctuates repeatedly (20%-80%), which makes it highly sensitive to temperature, eventually leading to detachment. We changed the liquid level on the side of the degassing tank to a high level, so that the liquid overflows to the side of the storage tank after degassing; as a result, the acid-resistant bricks basically do not fall off.
