The transfer pumps in our factory operate on a one-in-use and one-backup basis, but there are some things I don’t understand, so I’d like to ask those with more experience for advice. 1: What does it mean by a backup pump? Is the main pump used regularly, and only the backup pump is used when the main one fails? 2: Is it necessary to switch between the main pump and the backup pump on a scheduled basis? For example, use the main pump in January, the backup pump in February, and then switch back to the main pump in March? What should be taken into consideration when making such switches? 3: Is it okay that only the main pump is equipped with an inverter, while the backup pump doesn’t have one? 4: Pressure gauges are not installed at the outlets of the two pumps; instead, they are placed on the pipe where the outlets meet. Is this approach acceptable?

3. Yes, it is possible if your requirement for pressure or flow adjustment is not very high, or if there is backflow. The main pump is used in normal operation, while the backup pump is employed during maintenance or periodic operations, provided that the medium being transported does not condense or form scale. In continuous processing, a backup pump is needed so that it can be used at any time without disrupting production. Therefore, pumps that are used and those that are commonly used should be separated. As soon as the regular pump is repaired, switch to it immediately. Keep the standby pump in good working condition for a long time.
There is also a problem in this case when the backup pump is not used for a long time. Problems may occur. It may not start properly at critical moments.
