The installation of flow meters requires certain straight pipe sections; for electromagnetic flow meters, this usually means 5 meters of straight pipe ahead and 2 meters behind. However, it’s difficult to meet these requirements in actual field conditions. I’m currently facing such a problem: there is a high-power pump at the beginning of the pipeline, which is connected to the pipe leading into the gutter through two elbows. This section of pipe is about 3 meters long, and after that there is another upward elbow leading to a filter. It’s necessary to install an electromagnetic flow meter with a diameter of 500 MM in this limited straight pipe section. The flow meter itself is about 1 meter long. Given that there is a pump at the beginning of the pipeline along with elbows, it’s necessary to keep the flow meter as far away as possible from these elements, so even 5 meters isn’t enough. Your on-site conditions certainly do not allow for the installation of electromagnetic flowmeters. First, there is a vibration source at the site ; Second, your straight pipe section is not long enough. If you really need to install it, it’s best to create a support frame between the source of vibration and the installation location, in order to minimize the impact of vibration as much as possible. Next, make the necessary modifications to the pipeline: extend the horizontal pipe at the pump outlet as much as possible, and then turn it upward or back horizontally.
I agree with the opinion of the friend above; in fact, the installation requirements for flow meters are quite stringent, and if those requirements aren’t met, it will significantly affect the accuracy of measurements. The requirements for electromagnetic flow meters, on the other hand, are relatively lower.
The problem is that the progress of this project now doesn’t allow for any changes to the pipes or anything similar; this flow meter must be installed, and it can only be placed in this location. . . . A friend upstairs said something about making a fixing frame – how does one go about that?
It can be installed, but no bubbles are allowed inside the flow meter’s piping at the installation site; a slightly shorter straight section is acceptable.
Think about it, is it possible to use a different type of flow meter?~~
High-power pumps can interfere with electromagnetic flowmeters; it is recommended to switch to a different model
What is the medium being measured? Generally, as long as there are no large amounts of solid particles present, a scraper flow meter can be considered! !
I guess the only option is to modify the pipe; with such a limited space, there’s not much room for adjustment
I suggest not hesitating and changing the pipes right away to save time
