How is the density of coal measured? How are loose density, vibratory density, and compacted density measured respectively?
Here’s a makeshift method: take a bucket, fill it with coal using a shovel, level the surface, and then weigh it to determine its net weight. It’s indeed a very primitive method – simple and easy to use. There is no need to purchase advanced instruments. I wonder if the second floor is actually used in this way.
Going back upstairs, sorry I’ve never used it. Usually, knowing the particle size distribution and specific surface area is sufficient. Apart from warehousing and freight transportation, few people are likely to care about the bulk density under different states of looseness.
Take a clean and dry 50 ml volumetric flask, fill it with the sample, compress it until the mark is reached, then remove the sample to weigh it. Calculation: X = m/50. Where: X – density, g/cm3 ; m — sample mass, g.
