Graphite gaskets are flat gaskets made of soft graphite, suitable for high-temperature and highly corrosive media. Metal gaskets come in three main types: 1. Octagonal and oval gaskets – suitable for flange sealing surfaces with trapezoidal grooves; 2. Toothed gaskets, which feature conical toothed ridges on their metal flat surfaces – appropriate for flange sealing surfaces with uneven shapes; 3. Lens-shaped gaskets – designed for flange sealing surfaces of a lens-like shape. Metal gaskets are made from various materials such as pure iron, very soft steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. High precision and surface finish are required for the surfaces of metal gaskets, and significant bolt tightening forces are needed; they are used in valves operating under high temperature and pressure conditions. Graphite gaskets covered with metal consist of an annular asbestos gasket wrapped in thin metal. It is generally used for male and female flange sealing surfaces. Valves suitable for high temperatures and pressures. The wound gasket is formed by winding together a wave-shaped metal strip and a sealing material strip. There are various types such as steel strip-asbestos, steel strip-polytetrafluoroethylene, and steel strip-flexible graphite. It is generally used for male and female flange sealing surfaces. Suitable for medium-pressure valves in higher temperatures. PTFE gaskets are generally used for mortise-and-tenon type sealing surfaces, and are made mainly from two materials: PTFE and PTFE reinforced with glass fibers. Used for highly corrosive media at various pressures at lower temperatures. Asbestos rubber gaskets are suitable for smooth flange sealing surfaces, male-and-female flange sealing surfaces, and tongue-and-groove flange sealing surfaces. The advantages are good corrosion resistance and thermal stability, excellent plasticity, and the ability to achieve sealing with a low compression force. The disadvantage is its lower strength, and it tends to stick to the flange sealing surface. Asbestos rubber gaskets include universal asbestos sheets and corrosion-resistant asbestos sheets; various materials such as ordinary asbestos sheets, acid-resistant asbestos sheets, oil-resistant asbestos sheets, and asbestos sheets with metal wires embedded are commonly used. For medium-pressure valves used in higher temperatures and above, these are the types of gaskets that I have collected – provided here as a reference for everyone! ~
