Which design software is simple and practical?
It depends on what major you have to decide.

If students want to work in design, the most basic drawing software is of course CAD; meanwhile, Excel also has a wide range of uses. If you want to work in project management, Excel and P3 are the most commonly used tools
From a design perspective and based on my own experience, the broader field of process engineering involves at least the following types of software: 1. Process calculation and simulation, e.g. Aspen, ProII, ChemCAD – I have used Aspen and ChemCAD; these two software programs can handle most of the computational tasks related to process design. The downside is that using these two software programs requires a high level of technical expertise; for example, calculating discharge systems is done using DIERS. In reality, most discharge systems (safety valves) do not require such sophisticated calculations. 2. Other process calculation software is generally not needed because the three functions mentioned above are so powerful; therefore, some simpler software programs may be more practical. 3. Drawing of the diagrams. The most commonly used one is AutoCAD. 4. Drawing line by line using AutoCAD is very time-consuming; therefore, 3D pipeline modeling software has become popular nowadays. Such software can automatically generate axonometric views and calculate material requirements. Relevant software includes foreign options such as PDS and PDMS, as well as domestic ones like Zhongke Fulong’s PDSoft, Shanghai Paipin, and Changsha Siwei. 5. 3D model navigation software Navisworks. 6. Other tools such as Matlab and Origin are not commonly used; as a chemical engineering engineer, one should have a basic understanding of them: lol.
