Plan for purging and pressure testing during the commissioning of a 200,000-ton methanol production plant. Is the loading of the conversion catalyst done after or before purging?
It must have been installed after blowing out; otherwise, if it were installed after the catalyst was added and then blown out, impurities such as iron shavings in the pipes would be carried into the catalyst.
The catalysts are loaded only after the system has been purged, and after the catalysts are loaded, powder purging of the catalyst is generally carried out as well.
Can the packing in the tower be installed before starting up and purging the new system? For example, can the packing in the desulfurization tower be installed before the system is purged?
Of course, it’s possible. The plastic rings used for pressure swing dehydration can also be installed in advance; otherwise, once the degassing is complete, additional components such as activated carbon and hydrolysis agents will be needed. If pressure swing adsorption is used for carbon removal, then molecular sieve filling is also required. These things can be installed in advance; try to do so as early as possible, otherwise things will get too difficult to handle when the time comes.
Loading is carried out only after the purging is complete, in order to prevent debris such as rust from being blown into the container. Although the container is isolated during purging, this is not sufficient.
The desulfurization process is equivalent to a purge during furnace drying.
