Reasons for the drop in inlet pressure of the synthesis tower: When the methanol synthesis reaction reaches equilibrium, the system pressure remains stable within a certain range. If a sudden or gradual drop in the inlet pressure of the synthesis tower is observed, it should be taken seriously and immediate inspection should be carried out. ① A sudden decrease in the amount of fresh gas supplied can lead to a decline in synthesis, with the main cause being a compressor failure that results in its shutdown. Action to take: Quickly mobilize resources to start the backup compressor so as to restore gas supply as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the operators of the synthesis tower should closely monitor the tower temperature. Until the compressor resumes normal operation, they should reduce the circulation volume in the synthesis tower and adjust the flow rates in the main and auxiliary lines to stabilize the reaction temperature. ② An uncontrolled liquid level in the crude alcohol separator can also cause gas leakage, leading to a drop in the inlet pressure of the synthesis tower. Action to take: Reduce or temporarily close the drain valve of the separator to establish a normal liquid level and prevent gas leakage. The operators should also pay attention to the temperature of the synthesis tower, adjusting the flow rates in the main and auxiliary lines or reducing the circulation volume to control the tower temperature. ③ Damage to equipment or pipelines in the compression section or the synthesis section can result in leaks, which in turn can cause a drop in the inlet pressure of the synthesis tower. ④ Sometimes, even a gradual drop in the inlet pressure of the synthesis tower warrants attention. It is necessary to check whether there are any faults with the gas valves or pistons of the operating compressors, whether there are any leaks in the system, and to verify whether the pressure gauge is functioning properly.
