You can connect a pressure gauge to the balance pipe, and its pressure should be higher than the pump inlet pressure. If the pressure here is too high, it is very likely that the pump balance disc has worn out.

Under normal circumstances, the pressure in the balance tube should be slightly higher than the pump inlet pressure. If the pressure on that gauge increases, it is usually because the balancing mechanism has worn out too much and should be replaced. There should be no decrease in pressure.
