In fact, acid mist is present on normal days as well; it’s just not visible. On rainy days, when the air humidity is high, gaseous hydrochloric acid is absorbed by the small water droplets in the air, resulting in acid mist. If there is a high level of acid mist, use an exhaust pipe to vent it and have water absorb it.

Acid mist contains acidic corrosive substances that can pollute the environment and harm human health; in accordance with environmental protection regulations, it must be treated to meet specified standards before being released. At present, many companies have not treated it and have discharged it directly. The simplest approach is to use aqueous NaOH as the absorbent; a small absorption tank is placed at the outlet, where the liquid is absorbed before being discharged again, and the alkali solution is replaced depending on the pH value. As for many descriptions of absorption tower systems, I believe that volatilization from storage tanks is minimal, so it’s not necessary.
