There are three forming methods for straight-seam submerged arc welded steel pipes: UOE, JCOE, and RBE. The first two probably indicate the sequence of shaping steps for the steel plate. What does RBE mean?
Straight-seam submerged arc welded pipes are classified into various types according to the forming method, such as UO (UOE), RB (RBE), JCO (JCOE), etc. The steel plate is first pressed into a U shape within the forming die, and then into an O shape; thereafter, internal and external submerged arc welding is performed. After welding, the pipe is usually expanded at the ends or along its entire length – this type is known as UOE welded pipe, while those that are not expanded are called UO welded pipe. The steel plate is rolled and bent, followed by internal and external submerged arc welding; thereafter, the pipe is expanded to form an RBE pipe or remains unchanged to form an RB pipe. The steel plate is shaped in the order of J-type, C-type, and O-type, and after welding it is expanded to form JCOE welded pipe or left unchanged to form JCO welded pipe.
