I have been in this industry for only a short time, and diaphragm valves (not diaphragm sampling valves) are often used in projects. As far as I know, diaphragm valves only serve to open and close; they do not have the capability to regulate flow rate. Moreover, due to the presence of a diaphragm, they do not offer any advantages in terms of temperature and pressure resistance. So what are the advantages of diaphragm valves that make them irreplaceable in certain specific situations?
Diaphragm valve: ★Advantages: Simple structure, no stuffing box, easy to maintain, small installation dimensions, low flow resistance. The diaphragm provides isolation, preventing the material from coming into direct contact with metal components, thus offering excellent corrosion resistance. ★Disadvantage: Due to limitations of the diaphragm material, it is not suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure, vacuum pipelines and equipment. ★Primary uses: Suitable for use in pipelines transporting corrosive, toxic, flammable, explosive, viscous liquids, as well as liquids containing suspended particles.

Thank you to the friend above; perhaps the small installation size is also a major advantage of diaphragm valves. It’s difficult to make other valves that small, and the cost is high even when it is done

It has small installation dimensions and a relatively low price. The downside is that the pressure is generally below 16 kilograms, and the temperature depends on the material of the lining and diaphragm. The most prominent feature is that the diaphragm separates the inner cavity of the lower valve body from that of the upper valve cover, preventing components such as the valve stem and valve disc located above the diaphragm from being corroded by the medium. This eliminates the need for a packing seal mechanism, and prevents any leakage of the medium. 1. Diaphragms made from soft sealing materials such as rubber or plastic offer good sealing performance. Since the diaphragm is a vulnerable component, it should be replaced regularly depending on the properties of the medium. 2. Limited by the diaphragm material, diaphragm valves are suitable for low-pressure and relatively low-temperature applications. 3. Diaphragm valves can be classified into six types based on their structural design: roof type, straight-through type, globe type, through-type, gate type, and right-angled type ; The connection method is usually flange connection ; Based on the driving method, they can be divided into three types: manual, electric, and pneumatic. Among the pneumatic types, there are further subtypes such as normally open, normally closed, and reciprocating types. 4. It is generally not suitable for use in pipelines where the temperature is above 60 degrees, or in pipelines that transport organic solvents and strong oxidizing agents; it is also not appropriate for use in pipelines under high pressure. Diaphragm valves can only serve as on/off valves. Also, it has small installation dimensions, which makes it convenient, and its price is relatively low. It is mainly suitable for pipelines transporting toxic, flammable, explosive, and suspended particulate liquids.
It is suitable for situations where the medium is toxic or where the process medium does not come into direct contact with the transmission medium, and it is convenient to use and maintain. I have diaphragm pumps here that are used to pump fluids such as antifreeze, polysulfides, and lubricants; you can take that as a reference: handshake

Its operating element is a diaphragm made of a soft material, which separates the interior cavity of the valve body from the interior cavity of the valve cover as well as from the driving components; hence it is called a diaphragm valve. The characteristics of diaphragm valves are as follows: The most prominent feature is that the diaphragm separates the lower chamber of the valve body from the upper chamber of the valve cover, preventing components such as the valve stem and valve disc located above the diaphragm from being corroded by the medium. This eliminates the need for a packing seal mechanism, and it also prevents any leakage of the medium. 1. A diaphragm valve uses a valve stem to press an elastic membrane tightly against the valve seat in order to block the gas flow. Turning the handwheel causes the valve stem to move up and down, allowing the diaphragm to move away from the valve seat to open the valve, or pressing the diaphragm tightly against the valve seat to close it. When equipped with a NBR diaphragm, this type of valve is suitable for use in upstream and pre-evacuation pipelines, as well as with non-corrosive gases at temperatures ranging from -25 to 80°C. If a fluororubber diaphragm is used, it can be applied in high-vacuum systems, with an operating temperature range of -30 to 150°C. .
Well, diaphragm valves are often used in our wastewater treatment processes

It is recommended to refer to the answer above; if precise control of flow rate is needed, a control valve can be used
