The main difference is that MTO technology uses methanol to produce ethylene, propylene and butadiene products ; MTP technology uses methanol to produce a single propylene product. 2. There is no mature industrialized technology for MTO and MTP in China. The MTO technology patent holder is mainly UOP/Hydro Company, and the MTP patent holder is mainly Germany's LURGI Company. The Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is also conducting relevant research in China and has made certain progress. 3. The MTO process is a technology successfully developed in 1995 by UOP Company of the United States and HYDRO Company of Norway. This process uses methanol as raw material and produces olefin products mainly ethylene and propylene through methanol cracking. Depending on the raw material of methanol, there are two routes: natural gas and coal. 4. Currently, the main company engaged in MTP technology development in the world is Lucci. In January 2002, Lurgi Company built an MTP pilot plant in Norway, which ran continuously for 8,000 hours by September 2003. The pilot plant used the MTP catalyst from the German Sud-Chemie AG. The catalyst has the characteristics of low coking and extremely low propane production, and has achieved industrial production. At present, MTP technology has completed the process design of industrial equipment. Lurgi MTP reactors are available in two forms: That is, fixed bed reactors (only produce propylene) and fluidized bed reactors (can co-produce ethylene/propylene). At present, Lucci Company has signed technology transfer agreements with Shenhua Ningxia Coal Group and Datang respectively. Datang International Coal Chemical Industry's polypropylene project with an annual output of 460,000 tons is stepping up construction and is expected to be put into operation in 2009. (Inner Mongolia Datang International Xilingol League Coal Chemical Project plans to use lignite from the Shengli Coalfield in Xilinhot City, Inner Mongolia as raw material, and adopt a series of production technologies such as Shell pulverized coal gasification, gas shift, Lurgi low-temperature methanol washing, Lurgi low-pressure methanol synthesis, Lurgi MTP propylene production technology, Spheripol polypropylene production technology, etc., with an annual output of 1.68 million tons of intermediate product methanol, 460,000 tons of final product polypropylene and other by-products. )
Some well-known companies in the world are developing and researching methanol-to-olefins processes. Currently, the most successful ones include the MTO technology of UOP/HYDRO in the United States, the MTP technology of Lurgi in Germany, and the DMTO technology of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics in my country.
