I am a company based in Heilongjiang; it’s extremely cold there. During the Spring Festival, the coal stacks get frozen and cannot be lowered. Is there any solution?
Steam tracing pipes can be installed at the coal feeding port, along with bin wall vibrators or air guns. Since it’s extremely cold in your area, I think it might be advisable to add insulation around the feeding port, along with steam tracing pipes. At the same time, the automatic closing mechanisms for the gates should be strengthened to prevent them from failing to close properly, which could lead to significant coal leakage. The coal tower is insulated, and the coal nozzles are ignited with gas for insulation; these nozzles are used in a rotating manner. An air cannon is standard equipment.
Our factory installed air cannons at the coal tower discharge opening, and the results were very significant! It is recommended to install an air cannon; the modification is simple and the investment required is relatively low.

In the Heilongjiang region, it is difficult to deal with coal accumulation in coal silos during winter; both air cannons and wall vibrations have their drawbacks, and large coal chunks that fall down can block the silo outlets, making it even harder to clear them. Workers face high levels of physical strain and are exposed to danger. I think the root of the problem lies in the low temperatures and the moisture present in the coal; it’s necessary to address the issue of keeping the warehouse warm. If steam is used for heating, then there will be a huge demand for steam, and winter already sees a shortage of steam. Using a fire curtain (with gas burned near the burner) results in significant heat loss and serious waste of gas. (Now both methanol and boilers use gas.) I’m thinking about whether it would be possible to make use of some waste heat, such as flue gas, or to build a small gas stove in order to feed the heated air at the bottom of the coal bin, thereby warming the bin and raising its temperature. This way, the hot air comes into direct contact with the coal, preventing issues like coal sticking to the walls of the bin that could lead to poor coal flow. A bit of whimsy – I’d appreciate suggestions from fellow sailors.
