Dear seniors, I’m a newcomer to this industry. Could you please explain the difference between manual and automatic modes on an automatic control system panel? What do internal and external setpoints mean? It would be best to provide a detailed explanation of how to use manual, automatic, internal setting, and external setting to ensure the system operates smoothly Thank you.
Manual means that the opening degree of the control valve needs to be adjusted manually in order to change it; automatic means that the opening degree of the control valve is linked to another value, such that when one changes, the other changes accordingly

Internal and external settings are features used only in DCS systems; they can be directly connected to computer software for calculations, and are used for disturbance-free switching.
In manual mode, you enter the valve opening degree using the keyboard; you type in whatever degree you want it to be at； Automation means that the output is regulated through the PID control of the valve control block in the program, so as to meet the desired conditions (such as achieving the set flow rate); this refers to the automatic operation of the valve. If you are referring to the manual or automatic mode of the motor, manual mode means that you control the start/stop of the motor using the control panel, while automatic mode means that the device is part of a certain start group, allowing you to start or stop multiple devices through the activation of that group. Internal setting refers to the set value that is manually entered through the valve control panel on the flowchart. The external input refers to the value connected to the external pins of the valve control block, just as the valve feedback value is connected to your valve control block. You cannot enter a given value through the on-screen panel!
