**Why should the production of methanol from natural gas be halted? What is the basis for this? Please explain.
Coal-to-methanol is more environmentally friendly and better aligned with **interests； This is because the coal used to produce methanol is of poor quality, with a high content of impurities, resulting in significant pollution during combustion ； Coal-to-methanol production is a form of waste utilization. Natural gas is a scarce resource in modern China, and it plays a significant role both for urban use and as fuel for vehicles. Producing methanol is unnecessary and also economically unviable.
