Our company is planning to manufacture several aluminum pressure vessels soon. If anyone with experience in this area could offer some guidance, I would be very grateful!
I have designed many aluminum containers, but I’m not sure about their manufacturing. Aluminum pressure vessels can comply with standard JB/T4734-2002. Non-destructive testing is carried out in accordance with JB/T4730. Then it meets the tolerance specifications. The code stipulates that the design pressure of aluminum pressure vessels must not exceed 8 MPa.
The key issue with aluminum pressure vessels is welding; to ensure welding quality, argon arc welding is used for aluminum alloys. This is because TIG welding has concentrated heat, excellent shielding effects, good weld quality, and an attractive appearance. 1. The oxide film on the surface of the weldment must be removed before welding, and oxidation during the welding process must be prevented. 2. During the welding process, the alumina film hinders the bonding between metals and causes slag inclusions. 3. When welding aluminum alloys, the alloying elements tend to oxidize and evaporate, which affects the properties of the welded joint; therefore, it is necessary to choose appropriate welding methods and filler materials. 4. Before welding, the oxide films and oil contaminants on the groove and welding wire must be thoroughly removed, which can be accomplished using chemical or mechanical methods. 5. Post-weld cleaning. After welding aluminum and aluminum alloys, the impurities remaining in the weld seam must be removed promptly; otherwise, under the influence of air and moisture, the oxide film that provides corrosion protection will be damaged, leading to corrosion of the aluminum welded parts.

The standard for aluminum containers is JB/T4734; its overall structure and content are similar to those of 150, so familiarity with 150 will be very helpful in understanding JB/T4734. Like 150 or 151, non-destructive testing follows a standard system; the main difference from steel containers lies in welding, see 3# for details :)
