Urgent help needed: Recently, there have been leaks in the crude oil and cyclohexane pipelines at our facility. My supervisor has asked me to develop regulations for the monitoring and management of long-distance pipelines. I was wondering if any of you know of companies that have established effective management methods that I could use as a reference. I need these regulations by Wednesday. Thank you! How was it leaked? Is it a leak at the seal point or at the weld? Inspection is very important.
This long-distance pipeline has always been a persistent problem. Due to the distance, relying solely on inspections seems a bit unrealistic. As for installing cameras, not only is the cost high, but they may also be damaged. However, this is probably the best option available at the moment. However, many culverts are blind spots that cannot be detected. Last year, I designed such a pipeline for someone, and it was left unattended and stolen for half a year without anyone noticing; it wasn’t until a fire broke out that the small pipeline connected to it was discovered. Let’s put it this way: everything is designed to protect the honest people, not the dishonest ones.
Surveillance can only play a partial role; if there is deliberate damage, there’s not much that can be done. Our unit is currently only taking passive measures to increase patrols, but the results are not significant, and the managers are getting frustrated
