Who are the manufacturers of caprolactone? Is it currently in industrial use?
Caprolactone can be produced by reacting it with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a catalyst. In China, Nantong Acetic Acid Factory used to produce it, but production ceased after an explosion occurred. Currently, there are research efforts in China, but no production takes place.
At present, only Nippon Daicel Corporation and the former Suyi Chemical Company (now acquired by Basf) are capable of industrial-scale production of caprolactone monomer and polycaprolactone; in China, Nantong Acetic Acid Factory once carried out pilot-scale production of caprolactone monomer； American Dow was once the third-largest supplier, but it has now stopped production
Hexalactone is produced by the Nantong acetic acid factory in China, and our laboratory is also working on its production; the yield can reach over 80%!
