As far as I know, there is no effective method for oil recovery in piston compressor units. I was wondering if anyone has any good approaches for oil recovery? Thank you

The waste oil discharged from coke oven gas compressors contains impurities such as tar present in the coke oven gas; is it feasible to use the above method?
First, the oil-water mixture is drained into an oil tank for separation of oil from water. The separated oil is then heated, and after cooling, impurities are removed from it using an oil filter before it can be reused.
Can the wastewater after oil recovery meet the discharge standards?
After being collected, the compressor waste oil is typically treated by heating, acid-base regeneration, and filtration, after which it is mixed with new oil for use in ordinary mechanical equipment.
It is not recommended to reuse the liquid directly after heating, sedimentation, and filtration, as the quality of such simply treated liquid often fails to meet the standards; long-term use of it is detrimental to the stable operation of equipment. However, it can be sold (though this may also present issues in areas with strict environmental regulations), or it can be used in machinery with lower requirements. After acid-base regeneration, it can be mixed with new oil for reuse, but it is costly and causes significant pollution, so it has been phased out. In my opinion, recycling the waste through treatment is not as effective as simply treating it and then burning it in the boiler’s fuel burner to recover heat, especially at a time when coal prices are high while oil prices are low.

What equipment do you use to recycle used oil? Is the recovery rate high?
There is a simple and effective method for recovering waste oil from piston compressors: 1. The factory can manufacture its own oil storage tank (a conical shape helps to remove impurities more thoroughly); a coil is placed inside this tank to heat the oil using steam, after which the mixture is allowed to settle into layers, and the impurities and water are removed by pouring from the bottom. 2. Purchase another oil filter for waste oil to carry out further filtration. In this way, the moisture and mechanical impurities will definitely meet the standards, and generally more than half can be recovered.
The oil and water contained in compressors mainly originate from the moisture in the air, which liquefies within the compressor. For environmental reasons, this oily water is now separated into oil and water; the oil becomes waste oil, and different manufacturers handle it in various ways – the water is either discharged after meeting regulatory standards or mixed with other wastewater before being discharged. The downgraded recycling of such waste oil, as mentioned above, is actually unnecessary; the amount of wastewater in this case is quite small – a few hundred liters per hour at most – and the amount of oil present is even less, only a few grams. I would like to ask everyone: is the oil recovery for reciprocating compressors always carried out in a separate facility located within the compressor plant? Or should we consider all the reciprocating machines in the entire facility together?
