Cleaning of crude oil heat exchangers

The two existing crude oil heat exchangers are shell-and-tube heat exchangers, with the crude oil flowing through the tube side; after operating for a period of time, their heat exchange efficiency declines, requiring cleaning. There are two cleaning methods: physical cleaning and chemical cleaning. However, the manager insists that physical cleaning must be used. I think chemical cleaning is more effective, but I’m not sure how effective physical cleaning (using a high-pressure water gun) is. I wonder if physical cleaning can remove the oil deposits in the heat exchanger?

We all recommend chemical cleaning, as it provides thorough cleaning, takes little time, does not require special equipment, and is cost-effective. Once you gain experience, you can carry out this process on your own.
