What is the hardness of 304 stainless steel after solution treatment, and is it easy to machine?
HB178 stainless steel is very easy to machine; it is soft
No change; the machinability is good
304 stainless steel is generally in a solution-treated state, offering good machinability with an HRB value of ≤90.
After solution treatment, the HRB value of 304 stainless steel is generally ≤90, resulting in improved workability (cold deformation, turning) compared to before solution treatment. But compared to ordinary carbon steel, it is still much more difficult to work with. 1. It hardens easily when cooled, with a rapid increase in strength. 2. The sticky material tends to sinter at the cutting edge, making it difficult to process.
