One category is chemical corrosion and scale inhibitors, which are also a commonly used method; they generally consist of complexing agents and dispersants, and contain organic phosphines. There are also phosphorus-free scale inhibitors, which mainly use polyaspartic acid-based substances. The second category consists of scale-inhibiting devices for electromagnetic waves, but such devices are generally used for small water volumes and low concentration ratios.
