When opening AUTOCAD files, modifying dimensions, or inserting text, terms such as text style, SHX font, and font size often come up. What do they mean, and what is the relationship between them? Please give me some advice.
Generally, when Chinese characters are needed, choose a larger font. At this time, a regular SHX font is used for writing Western text, while a large-font font library is invoked for writing Chinese characters. There are two ways to display fonts in AutoCad nowadays: one is by using TrueType fonts, which are system fonts, and the other is by using CAD’s SHX fonts. Both methods can be used to display Chinese characters. Using the first method, when changing the font style, do not check the option for larger fonts. For English fonts, either SHX or TrueType fonts can be used; if Chinese characters are involved, a TrueType font must be used. TrueType fonts display more slowly, but they produce neater results and offer a wider range of fonts available. There are two types of SHX fonts: those that contain only English letters or Western symbols, and those that include characters such as Chinese characters. Among the SHX files for such characters, some contain over 3,000 characters while others contain 6,768 characters; it is the latter type that allows all Chinese characters and punctuation marks to be displayed. When changing the text style and checking the option for larger font size, you can select a larger font from the dropdown menu on the right side. The main Chinese large-font SHX files available today are: Explorer’s tssdchn.shx; correspondingly, there is tssdeng.shx, which is an English font with Chinese character symbols. For Tianzheng Structure’s syfs.shx, there is the corresponding sysz.shx, which is an English font with Chinese standard symbols. gbcbig.shx is the large Chinese font included with Autocad. hzfs.shx, hzkt.shx, hzst.shx, hzht.shx, etc. are a series of Chinese characters in double-line styles, namely Fangsong, Kaishu, Songti, Heiti, etc. Files such as hztxt1.shx, hztxt2.shx, hztxt0.shx, etc., may be files with over 3,000 characters or over 6,000 characters, distinguished by numbers like 1 and 2; they might also be names given to these fonts by certain graphic design agencies, and this can be determined after testing them. In addition, there are some larger Chinese font files such as Wcad.shx, which are similar in nature.
