Recently, I saw a comparison between HG and GB standards in a book. I have some doubts. If the HG standard is used in general chemical projects, the pipes will use HG20553 and the pipe fittings will use GB12459. However, in the HG standard system, there are also pipe fitting standards HG21635, HG21634, etc. I just don’t know why the HG series is not used, and the pipe fittings use GB12459? What is the difference between the two? Experts please enlighten me!

Industry standards are formulated within the scope of national standards. The scope of national standards is wider, and industry standards cannot conflict with national standards. For example, national standards are like the constitution, and industry standards are like the laws of various industries. If there is no conflict, there cannot be any! But there is a difference when it comes to pipe fittings.: Elbows are mostly made of SH3410 or 3408, larger diameter ones are also made of GB12459, and some pipe fittings such as nipples are available in both GB and SH. The HG series corresponds to the American standard, but domestic projects generally use the GB series!
