Do you mean generator sets by large-scale units? I know that large motors generally have 5 temperature measurement points: 3 for the stator windings + the bearings at the front and back!
If it is a compressor, there are also 4 bearing temperatures, 2 stator winding temperatures, as well as inlet and outlet temperatures.
Typically, for electric motors, it is necessary to monitor the temperature of the three-phase windings as well as the temperatures of the bearings at the drive end and the non-drive end, in order to enable protective shutdown.
