I only know basic things like the adsorption and regeneration of molecular sieves, but I really can’t figure out the exact principle behind the adsorption process. I’ve heard that gas moves from the bottom to the top, undergoing repeated cycles of adsorption, desorption, and re-adsorption, until almost all of the molecular sieves are saturated – is that correct? Is it adsorbed layer by layer in a progressive manner? I would appreciate some advice from experts; animations on this topic would be even better. Thank you first!

The adsorption process is similar to gas chromatographic separation. To gain a thorough understanding, refer to various professional adsorption books
Does the gas undergo repeated adsorption-desorption-readsorption from the bottom to the top? I don’t quite understand. If we are talking about the adsorption process, with gas entering from the bottom of the tower, then indeed it is the molecular sieve at the bottom that adsorbs first; (theoretically), once it becomes saturated, the molecular sieve above it takes over the adsorption process, until the entire bed has been penetrated. If the air intake is discontinuous, it can be understood as the “step-by-step absorption in layers” mentioned by the original poster. If there is continuous gas inlet (which is the case in the actual adsorption process), then the boundary between the adsorbed, saturated molecular sieve and the clean molecular sieve moves upward continuously; there is no concept of \"layers\".
