My facility previously used a rich gas desulfurization unit; the rich gas would flow directly from the first stage of the compressor into this desulfurization system. After being purified, the gas would enter the second stage of the compressor and then proceed to the absorption and stabilization system. This approach ensured that the copper corrosion levels in the gasoline produced remained within acceptable limits. However, the rich gas desulfurization tower was of the packed-bed type, which made it prone to clogging, requiring frequent cleaning interruptions that significantly affected product quality. Additionally, the regeneration efficiency of the desulfurization liquid was poor, resulting in low yields of elemental sulfur. The workshop technicians are considering changing the desulfurization of rich gas to alkali washing, by converting the desulfurization tower directly into an alkali washing tower. They are not sure what the effects of this approach would be. If this change is made, the subsequent systems used for desulfurizing rich gas would become completely useless, and the sulfur recovery system that was designed initially (such as the lean liquid tank, regeneration tank, sulfur foam intermediate tank, vacuum filter, etc.) would also be rendered useless. Is there any good solution? I hope experts can provide some guidance.
