Is post-weld heat treatment required for the butt weld between stainless steel and carbon steel (the thickness of the carbon steel part is 36mm)? Will heat treatment affect the performance of stainless steel?
It should be affected, so try not to do it.
This weld does not need to be heat treated.
It shouldn't be possible. In my impression, stainless steel materials are generally not heat treated.
Stainless steel is not heat treated, but 36mm thick carbon steel is heat treated! Is there any instruction there that says you don’t have to do this?
