Before low-temperature methanol washing, the syngas needs to be deslimed and denitrified; units such as shift reactors are used, so the system should be relatively clean at that point. Right?
Under normal circumstances, it is relatively clean, but if major problems occur in the upstream processes, the resulting losses can be extremely significant. Example: A large chemical enterprise in Dalian experienced a shutdown of 3 months due to failures in the gasification and shift operations, which caused carbon black-containing water to enter the methanol washing unit and damage related instruments as well as some equipment.
No, our Ruchi cycle methanol is very dirty, especially in the methanol water tower and the exhaust gas scrubber – what comes out at the bottom is nothing but black sludge!
If there are no problems in the previous stages, the gas should meet the process specifications.
Personally, I think it’s quite clean! After all, the conversion unit can remove dust as well as ammonia! It will be cleaner in methanol! But the process cannot guarantee permanent cleanliness, as there is always the issue of residue accumulation. Previously, Linde did not take this aspect into consideration; similar problems were identified through production practices in other factories. Nowadays, Linde’s processes include one or two filters in the methanol washing stage, aimed at filtering out impurities such as iron sulfide and nickel sulfide that are formed as a result of corrosion in methanol. The processes are also constantly being improved. A lot of the stolen goods are also discharged in the wastewater from the water separation tower; therefore, the circulating methanol is very clean at present, with very low levels of impurities as shown by analysis tests
