Our factory is now planning to manufacture a pressure vessel made of 15CrMoR steel. Could anyone tell me if flame cutting can be used for cutting the material?
Flame cutting can be used for cutting the material. However, an MT or PT inspection of the cut surface shall be carried out in accordance with clause 10.2.2 b) of GB150.

Additionally, the cut areas must be thoroughly polished before welding, in order to minimize the impact of these thermal cracks
Yes, but the groove needs to be ground after cutting. If the thickness does not exceed 10 mm, it is not necessary to perform color inspection on the crack. Moreover, based on our on-site welding practices, it was found that 15CrMoR also does not have a high crack sensitivity.
Now there are high-pressure water cutting machines that are CNC-controlled; using these for cutting eliminates the need for surface inspection.
