I’m still in my third year of college, and now there are limited elective courses – meaning I can choose the courses that I like. . For example, in areas such as fine chemicals, additives, drug synthesis, and chemical process development, one can choose to study the topics that interest them the most. What I want to ask is: in which direction will the field of chemistry develop in the future? What exactly does process development entail? What can graduates with a bachelor’s degree do if they choose to work in the field of fine chemicals? The specialized courses we are studying now include Principles of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Engineering Transport Phenomena, and Chemical Engineering Machinery Design. Master the principles of chemical engineering, chemical engineering design, and chemical engineering machinery; learn dry processing and related design techniques. Study physical chemistry and analytical chemistry in order to conduct research, obtain certification as a chemical engineer, and pursue further studies through graduate school. Don’t learn anything and just work as a frontline worker
I can tell you bluntly that it doesn’t matter what you learn in school, because you never know what you’ll encounter once you start working.
People have limited energy, so one needs to be selective when choosing courses. Fundamental courses such as Principles of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, Chemical Engineering Transport Phenomena, and Chemical Engineering Machinery Design must be mastered well, as they will be useful no matter what one does in the future. But don’t expect what you learn in school to be of great use in your future work. After starting work, one basically needs to start learning from scratch. The development directions of fine chemicals include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and C5 chemicals. I believe that fields such as chemical pharmaceuticals and chemical cosmetics will not have as promising a future as biopharmaceuticals and biocosmetics.
No matter what you study, it’s important to build a solid foundation
It is essential to study the fundamental disciplines of chemistry and chemical engineering thoroughly*; they will be relevant whether in future exams or in one’s work. Choose subjects with a focus on building a solid foundation. If you like a particular subject, you can borrow some books from the library to read on your own, ask teachers for help if you encounter difficulties, or attend classes as an observer.

You can learn *chemical engineering English to work as a translator in the chemical engineering field. Learn some economic knowledge and get into chemical trading. Learn something about logistics and work in chemical logistics. Learn some mechanics and work on chemical engineering machinery.
I was quite well-behaved at school. . I’ve basically finished what the teacher asked for. . I’m a bit confused right now. . I wonder how much of what I learned in college will actually be useful in the future. Many seniors say that little of what we study is used in practice later on
Your senior is right; I’ve been through it as well. The most important thing in college is to learn learning methods, so that once you start working and encounter things you don’t understand, you can learn on your own!
Principles of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical Transport, and Chemical Machinery Design are all widely used. Experts upstairs, please don’t mislead children. What you learn at school is very useful if it is relevant to the field. If it doesn’t match, then of course it’s useless.
