Generally, we do this based on experience, focusing mainly on maintaining a pH level of 7.0–7.5 before Stage 2. The concentration of sodium carbonate added is also important; generally, a level between 8-12% yields the best results. The amount to be added depends on the pH value of the anhydrous tar, the degree of corrosion of the equipment and pipelines, as well as the ash content of the modified asphalt or medium-temperature asphalt.
