Seeking help with PID self-tuning software in DCS

As the title suggests, I’d appreciate everyone’s advice – is it useful?
I remember that the I/A system in FOXBORO had an intelligent PID parameter tuning tool, but it didn’t seem to be very accurate. It mainly relied on familiarity with the process and empirical parameters
AB seems to have a PID tuning tool as well, called RSTune; I haven’t used it specifically, so I’m not sure about its effectiveness.
Many DCS systems have it, but it is still mostly adjusted manually, as using automatic adjustment can result in losses. Moreover, the self-tuning software is integrated into the DCS software, so how can it be provided? This post was last edited by zhaohh3211 on 2009-2-26 14:07.]
Self-tuning PID is rarely used these days; we did use it in the past, but later switched to manual adjustment because of its poor performance. Unless there are special reasons, I personally do not recommend using it.
