Our wall latex paint can develop a crusty layer during storage. After being stored for an extended period, a gel-like layer forms on the surface of the paint, creating a distinct boundary with the paint beneath; this layer cannot be dispersed, so it is necessary to remove the upper crust before using the paint, which results in waste of labor and materials. How to prevent cracking of wall latex paint during storage? Please help analyze and solve this. Thank you!
My personal understanding is that it may be related to the loss of volatile components in the latex paint, or to reactions that occur upon contact with oxygen in the air; it is recommended to use up the latex paint as soon as it is opened, and any remaining amount should be stored in a sealed container.
