Our company is about to issue a tender for valves, and I urgently need to know the key points to keep in mind during this tender process.
One should try to choose the option with the lowest price, as long as it meets the requirements. It’s simple: safety and quality come first, price second; don’t pursue temporary cheapness at the expense of something more important.

First, it’s necessary to determine whether the valves produced can meet your operational requirements, and also to consider your price range. The most expensive ones aren’t necessarily the best, and the cheapest ones aren’t necessarily the worst – what’s suitable is what’s best! :) :)

Before making a purchase, check the performance first, then contact some of the entities with good performance to inquire about their situation; it’s best to ask your friends or colleagues. 4. For imported items, check whether there is a certificate of origin. 5. Deliberately create a small issue to see how the service is. 6. Most importantly, see what brand your leader prefers! If you are the leader, then it depends on which brand you want to choose; if it doesn’t matter, just let the engineers make the decision!
Choosing the right valves is crucial in future chemical production; therefore, quality is of paramount importance. Our company’s approach is to first look at chemical enterprises in the surrounding area (preferably those that produce similar products), to find out where the goods are sourced from and how they are used, and then make a decision based on the needs of our own company.
Personally, I suggest conducting a prequalification process and sending samples for testing first. Secondly, in the bidding process, it is absolutely not sufficient to rely solely on the lowest price – after all, with metal materials, you get what you pay for; cheap valves force one to focus on aspects such as construction quality, source of materials, and material composition.

First, consider the following points: 1. The qualifications of the valve manufacturers; 2. The selection criteria for the manufacturers chosen in the bidding process – valve models are selected based on the manufacturer’s process requirements regarding temperature, medium, and pressure. 3. Bidding is carried out in accordance with relevant regulations. Secondly, before placing an order, the model has not yet been determined; therefore, the following operating parameters must be provided: 1. Nominal diameter, rated flow coefficient KV; 2. Properties of the fluid (including nominal pressure, temperature, viscosity, or acidity/alkalinity); 3. Signal pressure, spring range; 4. Flow characteristics; 5. Type of valve operation; 6. Materials used for the valve body and valve core; 7. Whether accessories are included, along with details on their models.
I often participate in valve bidding, whether it’s international or invitation-based bidding. If the process is to be fair, impartial, and transparent, it’s necessary to conduct a thorough review of the manufacturers’ qualifications, including their quality management system certified under ISO9001, fire protection certificates such as API607, low-leakage certificates for valve stems like TA-LUFT and EPA certifications, as well as information on their past performance and customer contacts. Some agents may issue fake certificates and records. It’s also important to carefully examine the qualifications of these agents; some of them are merely shell companies without any funds, relying entirely on customer letters of credit to support the manufacturers – in other words, they’re trying to get something for nothing. Technical documents must also be carefully checked to ensure they meet the design requirements, especially regarding the material used for the valve internals and the valve diameter (some manufacturers reduce the diameter in order to lower costs, and since no one checks the diameter of the valve channel once it arrives at the site). If an actuator is included, the manufacturer must provide a torque calculation sheet, which should be generated by software rather than written manually; moreover, the output torque of the actuator should be 1.5 times that of the valve’s own torque. If there are requirements regarding response time, it’s necessary to check whether the instrument air supply design can meet those demands. Finally, price and delivery time are important factors to consider. The manufacturer should also provide a certificate of origin issued by the local chamber of commerce; those issued by the factory might be fake. Material test reports are essential as well; many valves are manufactured in China, where it’s possible to falsify the place of origin, although it’s difficult to forge test reports, it’s not impossible. These are just some of my suggestions. Of course, if fairness and transparency cannot be ensured, it’s better to follow the instructions given by your superiors:
Did you really go online to look up the ISO9001 number? Should I check the numbers for other certificates as well? Many of the performance details and contact information are fake; there are various ways to create them, and it’s useless to call and ask. There are also websites; many of them are fake. Hahaha, upon checking, it turns out that the domain names were purchased by Chinese proxy companies. We rarely encounter such persistent demands to check certificate numbers in our bids. These days, many tender requirements to have factories conduct certain inspections are just mere suggestions. The key for imported valves is the certificate of origin from the country of origin, but this certificate comes at a cost. There are too many fake customs certification documents. And many can get real customs documents too!

This way, many problems can be avoided – the prices are low and the quality is guaranteed. However, foreign clients generally do not accept such terms and usually require payment before shipment
