At present, the J-504COS hydrolysis catalyst is being used in the fertilizer industry, yet there is very little information available about it. How many fertilizer companies in China are using this catalyst, what are its development prospects, and what are its physical and chemical properties as well as its main components? Those who have knowledge in this area are asked to provide some information. (It is mainly used for removing COS during the process of precise desulfurization.)
1. Reaction principle: COS reacts with trace amounts of water vapor in the feed gas to produce CO2 and H2S; the H2S is then removed using activated carbon or iron oxide desulfurization agents, thereby ensuring that the total sulfur content is ≤0.1 ppm. The reaction equation is: COS + H2O = H2S + CO2. 2. Technical specifications: COS conversion rate ≥ 99%, compressive strength ≥ 35 N per particle. 3. Main physical properties: Main components: Al2O3 plus special additives ; Appearance: white spherical particles ; Particle size: ф3~5 ; Bulk density: 0.8±0.1kg/l ; Specific surface area: ≥200 m2/g ; Porosity: 0.35. 4. Main features: Good activity at low and moderate temperatures; under conditions of 50°C and an air velocity of 2000, the COS conversion rate is ≥99% ; It has strong resistance to H2S and O2 poisoning, and a long service life. It has good mechanical strength and does not powder when exposed to water. 5. Recommended operating conditions: Space velocity: 1500~2500 when COS is less than 5 ppm ; When COS is greater than 5 ppm, 500~1500 ; Temperature: 40~100℃ ; Pressure: 0~8mpa. Due to their poor performance at room temperature, hydrolysis catalysts have gradually been replaced by adsorption-type activated carbon.
