This is related to the thickness of the wood boards being welded; generally, the larger the diameter, the higher the welding efficiency. At the same time, a higher welding current results in greater heat input. Therefore, for welding thick boards where heat input control is not a critical factor, larger diameters are used, while smaller diameters are employed in other cases. As a test of a welder’s skills, welding large-diameter electrodes requires a higher level of technical expertise from the welder.
