Personally, I think it should be classified as a device involving open flames. Recently, I was involved in someone else’s project, and I noticed that in the layout plans, the distance between the heat transfer oil furnace and other devices that are not part of the heat transfer oil system did not meet the fire safety regulations. Should the heat transfer oil furnace be considered a device involving open flames?

Why are heat transfer oil boilers considered open-flame equipment? Why do flames appear under abnormal conditions? According to 50016-2008 2.0.8, open-flame equipment is defined as heating equipment and waste gas combustion equipment whose combustion chamber is connected to the atmosphere, and in which flames are exposed under abnormal conditions. Open-flame equipment mainly refers to open-flame heaters, waste gas incinerators, ethylene cracking furnaces, etc.
In a space with an open flame and connection to the atmosphere, sparks may fly into the atmosphere outside the equipment in case of an anomaly, and such devices are considered open-flame devices.
