I currently have the design drawings for a chimney: it is a steel chimney with a constant diameter of DN500, operating under normal temperature and pressure conditions; its height is 20 meters. The site classification is I, the seismic intensity is 7 degrees, and the wind load is 550 Pa. At a height of approximately 800 mm from the bottom of the chimney, a fitting with an outer diameter of 426X6 is welded to the main body of the chimney. Now, the civil engineering team needs to know the specifications and quantity of foundation bolts required. I would appreciate it if experts could advise on how to calculate these values. What are the requirements for designing such a chimney? Are there any design examples that can be used as references? Thank you very much!
The number of footings can be determined by oneself; it should generally be a multiple of 4. The size of the bolts should be determined by calculating the overturning moment exerted by wind on the chimney. If the calculated bolt diameter turns out to be too large, the number of bolts can be increased and the calculation repeated. The strength of the wind is also related to height, following a certain coefficient relationship; relevant guidelines can be consulted
Calculate using the SW6 reference tower design. The external pipe is calculated based on the large opening.
