I am designing a titanium device, and I would like to ask the experts: why is it necessary to use titanium alloy steel for the welding rings of titanium flanges, rather than using the same material as the pipeline, namely TA2? What are everyone using?

Since titanium flanges have sealing surfaces, pure titanium TA2 may suffer from crevice corrosion; therefore, in applications with high requirements, the Ti-0.20Pd titanium-palladium alloy, namely TA9, is used. This material is more expensive, but it is specifically employed in areas prone to crevice corrosion, such as flange sealing surfaces and metal gaskets.
Agree with what was said above; generally, the welding rings made of titanium are of TA9 grade, commonly known as titanium palladium, and this is mainly to prevent crevice corrosion
